Knoxville's Finest, The Southeast's Funkiest Band
- est. 1996
Dishwater Blonde is an all original rock, soul n funk band from Knoxville,Tn. formed in the mid 1990's by 2 friends who met in line camping out for Prince concert tickets. Davis Mitchell (guitar, Vox) and Robby Mathis (Bass, Vox) began writing original songs together inspired by His Purple Badness, Prince, Morris Day and The Time, The Isley Brothers, Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, Sly and The Family Stone, Lenny Kravitz and more. The life long friends took the name "Dishwater Blonde" from a line in a lesser known Prince tune called "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker." DWB, as they became known, added drummer Gerald Ware, Vocalist Nakia Davis aka DIVA, incendiary guitarist Cozmo Holloway, Mo Melton on Keyboards, Dan Marshall on Vox and a rotating line up of Knoxville's most outstanding musicians including Mike Jones on Trumpet, Jason Thompson(of Gran Torino) on Sax, Bob Maxon on Sax, Dexter Murphy on keys, Yattie Westfield, Scottie Hoaglan and many more!!
